Ethnographic Research: Forced Marriages
Despite Pakistan's Muslim-majority society, forced marriages persist as a pressing concern, particularly impacting women. This research paper explores the religious and psychological dimensions of forced marriages in Pakistan, with a focus on their repercussions for women. It probes the motivations behind parents compelling their daughters into unwelcome unions and the ensuing challenges women confront. Additionally, the paper scrutinizes the religious justifications and psychological consequences surrounding forced marriages, including familial conflicts and the toll on women's mental well-being. It also examines Islamic teachings concerning forced marriages, aiming to enhance understanding. By illuminating these complex facets, this study aims to increase awareness, inform policy, and contribute to anti-forced-marriage initiatives in Pakistan.
